Good nights sleep

Recently we spent a fortune on a new mattress. I got my second choice and it was very much softer than we have had in our 29 years of marriage. To be honest, it was bliss. I do suffer from arthritis of the knee and hip and it is so much better since I have not been sleeping on a board. I can even sometimes walk downstairs normally in the morning instead of one step at a time.

The next thing I had to sort out was the pillows. My pillow heated up tremendously every night and I turned it and punched it and changed it about a dozen times a night, resulting in disturbed sleep. So I googled cool pillow and came up with what is termed a chillow. It is a piece of foam in a plastic case and you fill it with water then expel out all the air so when you lie on it it gets cold. Goodness knows how it works but Jim says something about surface area or tension. My first one developed a leak and was replaced immediatly but it makes sleeping so much more restful.

I still have the occasional difficulty in getting off to sleep usually because of the snoring but I will go down and get some montezuma hot chocolate, the dos variety. It is a 75% chocolate with a taste of chilli, seriously good, but calorific. Fair helps with the sleep. I am aware that hot milk would do the same but I dont drink cold milk so why would I drink it hot unless the taste was improved.

And the final problem with sleeping is Monday mornings, a 4am wake up to go to the airport. Not much can be done about this but put up with it and try to make it up when I get back.
