Today was the Perth ace meet only our numbers were decimated from last year There were 8 of us. We had a lovely meal where everyone provides . The races themselves were uninspiring… 2or 3 of the races only had 4 riders and another couple 7 the rest were ok. We did win 5 of the 7 races between Jim and I but we came away slightly down. The weather was threatening rain which never came but the wind was ferocious. 25mph westerlies god knows what the gusts were. Then I got a call from Rachael to say she had locked herself out and her flatmate was away and the friends who have a key, locally, were on holiday. So we had to finish off a great day with a drive through to Glasgow.
We got there and let her in the flat. She had said her battery for her car was flat ( she claimed she had left the lights on) so she needed a jump start. We took the power pack through and proceeded to attempt to start the car. Didn’t catch. OK we cannot call the AA in b’cos your fuel tank is empty. Jim and I go to Morrisons to fill up a can of petrol. As we were pulling out of the petrol station we saw an urban fox crossing the car park. Got back to the car filled it up and it started like a dream, low battery my foot it just needed tender loving care and petrol. She reckoned she had 10 miles worth of petrol in her tank. She always runs it to the minimum. She probably put £4 or £3 in instead of the usual £5-6 worth. If we hadn’t had gone to Glasgow today, the car was likely to have been towed away because there were cones there as people were coming to repair the road. So it was just as well.
